On March 1st and 2nd, the League hosted candidate forums for the Glendale City Council election and the Glendale School Board election. Both forums will be rebroadcast on Glendale TV6 up until the election on April 4th. They will also be streamed on the City of Glendale's YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/qOO6mFCMqDc for the City Council forum and https://youtu.be/vkEKpPLby4o for the School Board forum.
On March 12th, the League is also sponsoring a Candidate Carousel from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Glendale Fire Station #21, 421 Oak Street, Glendale. This is a new event in which community organizations meet in one location and candidates move from table to table to answer questions from each organization for about 10 minutes depending on the number of participating organizations and candidates. This event (sometimes also referred to a "speed + dating" for candidates) has been used by League groups around the country to bring together community groups with the League to help educate voters. If you participate in a community group that you think might be interested in participating in the Candidates Carousel, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
We are also incredibly proud that now one of our members--Chris Carson--has been elected as President of the League of Women Voters of the United States! You can view her inaugural address at the 2016 Convention on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS-UW77Ab6Y.
