On February 13th, the League is also sponsoring a Candidate Carousel from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Buena Vista Library Auditorium. This is a new event in which community organizations meet in one location and candidates move from table to table to answer questions from each organization for about 10-15 minutes depending on the number of participating organizations and candidates. This event (sometimes also referred to a "speed + dating" for candidates) has been used by League groups around the country to bring together community groups with the League to help educate voters. If you participate in a community group that you think might be interested in participating in the Candidates Carousel, please contact us at email@example.com .
On March 1st and 2nd, the League will be hosting candidate forums for the Glendale City Council election and the Glendale School Board election. Both will be held in the City Council Chamber in Glendale City Hall, beginning at 7:00 pm each evening. Both forums will be broadcast on Glendale TV6, and then rebroadcast up until the election on April 4th. It will also be streamed on the City of Glendale's YouTube channel. The public can submit questions for the candidate by telephone at(818)925-4598 or by email at CityCouncilForum@gb.ca.lwvnet.org or SchoolBoardForum@gb.ca.lwvnet.org.
We are also incredibly proud that now one of our members--Chris Carson--has been elected as President of the League of Women Voters of the United States! You can view her inaugural address at the 2016 Convention on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS-UW77Ab6Y.
